David S. Danaher

In my eighteen years at UW-Madison, I've created and taught over twenty different courses and am the only professor in my department to have actively taught two languages for over a decade.

I've taught intro to advanced Russian and Czech language, literature, and linguistics for both undergrads and grads. I've taught grad students how to teach.

What am I most proud of? Single-handedly redesigning and growing the Czech progam at UW, the development of a monograph course on Václav Havel, designing and implementing a course on the culture of dissent in East Central Europe as well as a course for students in the UW Honors Program on language and worldview.

In 2004 I was honored with a distinguished teaching award from the UW Alumni Association.
